Freedom

“But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

2 Corinthians 3:16-18, NIV

Dear Praying friends,

This month, we are praying for freedom in our city. There are many forms of addiction that vie for our affection and attention. From small behaviors, such as being glued to social media, to powerful bondages, such as the opioid epidemic, these idols have kept many in our city from stepping into the wonderful promises God has in store.

We know that these addictions cannot be broken by human strength alone. Our most innovative political policies and our highest education are ineffective to transform the heart where these addictions are tethered. We need Jesus! Only His blood is powerful enough to break every hindrance at the deepest level. Jesus is inviting our city to lay our chains at His feet where we receive grace and find true freedom in knowing Him.

2 Corinthians 3:17 says “Now the Lord is Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedo.” As we invite His Spirit this month, we claim this promise to obtain freedom for our loved ones and for our city. Let us petition for grace to tear down all manner of addictions: drugs, alcohol, pornography, media addiction, depression, anxiety, money, food, self image, fear, unforgiveness and more.
