The Fourth Lausanne Congress of World Evangelization will take place September 22-28 of this year in Seoul, South Korea. Our executive director, Nick Nye, was selected to participate in the congress alongside 5,000 believers from across the world with the purpose of considering gaps and opportunities in global missions. Participants must meet several criteria in order to be selected, including “a kingdom mindset of cooperative ministry and a readiness to engage in collaborative action.”
This year will mark fifty years since Billy Graham convened the inaugural Lausanne Congress in 1974 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The movement has a four-fold vision of “the gospel for every person, disciple-making churches for every people and place, Christ-like leaders for every church and sector, and kingdom impact in every sphere of society.”
One of the most significant modern documents in church history, The Lausanne Covenant, was birthed out of the first Lausanne Congress and was developed under the leadership of John Stott and Christians from 150 nations. The covenant defines what it means to be an evangelical and challenges Christians across the globe to work together.
In addition to Nick Nye, Chuck Proudfit of At Work on Purpose will attend to represent faith and work movements. His ministry is based out of Cincinnati and closely collaborates with For Columbus.
Please join us in praying for Nick, Chuck, and everyone who gathers at the Lausanne Congress! We pray it would accelerate gospel-saturated city movements all over the world, and that the Lord would be worshiped and glorified through the congress.
