Columbus business leader John Watkins has enjoyed a successful career across many sectors, from the airline industry to the fine wine industry. More recently, he's become one of the co-founders of Cohatch, a nationwide co-working space with multiple locations in the Columbus area. John is part of the steering team for the For Columbus Workplace Hub, and we're inspired by the way he embodies his faith through his business ventures and in his everyday life. His Miami University fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi, recently awarded him with their National Leadership Award, and created a video that highlights his life, work, and faith in Jesus.
"Putting others' interests above our own is an attitude that, when we take it into our families, our fraternities, and our workplaces, it can change the world."
John's business career is impressive, but most importantly, his life has been transformed by Jesus, and his work ethic flows from his deep faith. Part of his desire in starting Cohatch is to "engineer collision," by bringing people together in co-working spaces who might not otherwise interact. John's hope is that people get to know one another as whole people, and love one another as Jesus loves. Philippians 2:3-5 tells us, "Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had." John echoes this message in the video, reminding us that "putting others' interests above our own is an attitude that, when we take it into our families, our fraternities, and our workplaces, it can change the world."
