On a fine, sunny evening at the end of May, the nascent Creatives for Columbus Network gathered on the patio at Understory in Old North Columbus. The previous times we met have largely been opportunities for various Creatives from around Greater Columbus to get to know one another, and hear about how they’re investing themselves in the Arts. While the most recent gathering was no different, this particular clutch of Creatives began diving into the topic of ‘beauty’ with more intention.
We launched into a book called 'The Father of Lights: A Theology of Beauty' by Dr. Junius Johnson and opened a discussion that proved to be both fruitful and fulfilling. I mean, it was rich! How wonderful to blissfully engage in meaningful, unhurried conversation with like-hearted people! It was a gift. The significance of this topic and these conversations is supreme for the Creative. We’re leaning into beauty as an aspect of Our Father’s nature and character- not to mention His own ‘cosmic’ creativity! The repercussions of a clearer understanding of this for our own calling and creativity are yet to be fully discovered.
Are you a Creative working (in some capacity) in the Creative Arts, and are you curious about how being in relationship with Life Himself (Jesus) might influence your calling? Join us! Email Shane Tucker,(shane@forcolumbus.org) Director of Networks for more information, and to get on the list for the next gathering announcement!
